About Karen Rose

Born and raised in uptown New Orleans, I stayed close to my musical roots by graduating from Tulane. I've been playing violin since I was 4 years old. My mother was a violinist and also a violist with the New Orleans Symphony. My father, a cellist. I took lessons from all the best violinists in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I became a section violinist with the Baton Rouge Symphony. I substituted with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. I've been free-lancing and gigging since I was 15. I joined the American Federation of Musicians so that I could play back up for Natalie Cole, Johnny Mathis, Harry Connick, Jr., Stevie Wonder, Liberace, Anthony Newley, Linda Ronstadt, Nelson Riddle (music arranger), Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick, Susan Anton, Smokey Robinson, Henry Mancini, Marvin Hamlisch, Aaron Neville.A Touch of Rose Music had it's inception 27 years ago. I am the violinist /arranger/contractor. I love all music styles... as well as the wedding top 40. When not playing solo, my sidemen are Cello, Harp, Violin, Viola and Harp.

Weddings are my specialty. I am budget conscious and never try to up sell. I combine the perfect compliment of instruments makes for a fun / romantic / memorable ceremony. As a nice add-on, we remain and play for the cocktail hour. I also offer a Jazz band for a party atmosphere. My daughter, Harpist Amanda Rose, is in the Violin/Harp Duo. Amanda plays a beautiful 38 stringed concert-grand Lyon & Healy harp. She sounds heavenly.
